WORKSHOPS

Workshops are currently offered on select Sundays for 1.5-2 hours and allow participants an opportunity to spend more time on the chosen topic or practice.  Please call for a schedule of upcoming workshops including Partner Yoga, Prenatal, Men’s Only, Meditation, and Yoga Fundamentals.  Unless otherwise stated, advanced registration is required.

Partner Yoga - ($15 Pre Registration) Practicing with another person can be a playful and intimate way to explore yoga.  Suddenly, balance poses that seemed so challenging as an individual are eased by the support of your partner while postures that lengthen and strengthen may require more mindfulness to ensure your partner's comfort.  Bring a friend, spouse, parent, child, or anyone else in your life and play with us during this 1.5-hour workshop.
                       
Mother's Day Partner Yoga - ($15 Pre Registration) Honor a special mother in your life by playing yoga together. 

Father's Day Partner Yoga - ($15 Pre Registration) Enjoy a day with a special father in your life. 

Chakra Exploration - ($18 Pre Registration)From the Sanskrit word for "wheel", chakras are considered spinning wheels of energy that align along the spine and are thought to govern specific behaviors and emotions.  When chakras are balanced, one may feel empowered, loved, and connected to oneself and others. During this 2-hour workshop, you will gain insight into areas of excess or deficiencies in your chakras and you will use poses, chanting, and visualization to bring these chakras into balance.

Intro to Yoga - ($15 Pre Registration) This workshop is recommended for those who are brand new to yoga.  During the first hour of this 2-hour session, you will learn what to expect in a typical yoga class at Red Root, gain information about the history of yoga and its documented benefits, and have time for Q&A.  During the second hour, you will be introduced to some of the fundamental yoga poses that increase strength, flexibility, and balance.

Growing with Baby: Fun with Prenatal Yoga - (coming soon) Appropriate for any trimester, during this 2-hour class, you'll share where you are in your pregnancy journey, learn ways to use the breath as an anchor during labor and delivery, and experiment with modifications to customize your yoga to your blossoming needs.  Taught by Anelyn who credits yoga for both her speedy, natural, non-medicated journeys into motherhood, the class will help you gain some confidence as you move safely and comfortably through poses and as you breathe deeply to nurture yourself and your growing baby.  (Note: You are always encouraged to take breaks, drink water, have a snack or honor your body in any other way whenever you need.)

Yoga Tots - ($18 for advanced registration) - Bring your favorite 3 and 4-year olds as we playfully explore yoga through the eyes of a child.  You and your partner will enjoy animal-inspired poses that invite joy and fun as well as those that quiet and calm -- even if only for a moment!  Each child must be accompanied by an adult.  Class is 1.5 hours long.  (Note: You are always encouraged to take breaks -- potty and other! -- to meet the needs of your child.)

Meditation - (Donation only)If you're interested in diving deeper into your own practice or creating one for the first time, please join us to experiment with meditation techniques aimed to keep you in the present moment.  Not only will you try similar techniques as those utilized during the regular Sunday meditation class, but also you will invite new modalities to observe effects of quieting the mind.  Additionally, you will have the opportunity to share your experience and ask questions that may help elucidate the benefits of this practice further.

Men's Only Class - ($15 Pre Registration) This workshop is for all the guys out there who might be too shy, intimated, or apprehensive of attending a typical yoga class. The workshop will address questions or obstacles unique to men and provide an easy and care free environment to explore the masculine side of yoga.
